Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks & Travel Updates

I am still very much in the process of downloading all of my Lisbon and Madrid pictures from my camera to my computer, so please bear with me on my overdue travel adventure post that will be coming up shortly!

John and I will be leaving the beautiful city of Madrid tomorrow for the equally stunning Barcelona. I have been asking a lot of Spanish locals about the distinct difference between these two cities– one compared Madrid as the “quirky cousin” to the “hippy and cool” Barcelona. Interesting. I will make my own judgements soon and cannot wait to share them with y’all!

Today, however, I really wanted to write a post about some of my favorite items from this year’s Nordstrom Anniversary Sale! I know Grace wrote about some of her favorites just last week so I wanted to make sure that I do the same. I will divide my selections into three sections; my own purchases (some of which are already waiting for me in my apartment for my return!!), my wishlist for when I am rolling in dough, and the items I bought from the early access sale that are no longer available.

I am including the third list just so you will have a sense of what was in this selection in case you might consider applying for the Nordstrom debit/credit card for the sale next year 🙂 Each year, Nordstrom card holders will receive early access on the sales before everyone else. I know I was a bit disappointed that some of the more popular items last year were completely sold out before the sale went “public” and that definitely incentivized me to get the debit card for this year! I knew I did not want another credit card so the debit card was the best option for me since I do not get a monthly statement bill from Nordstrom and they directly take out the balance from my checking account. Plus, I still get the same perks as the credit card holders. Win-win!

My Purchases:

6c1df5d26ecfecf4829d2fabf91b84adBP. ‘Trott’ Bootie— I got the “chocolate leather” and cannot wait to pair this with a simple top and skinny jeans during the fall!

Ted Baker Bow Trapeze Cosmetics Case— I was on the market for a new makeup bag and thought this one was so cute!

Gorjana ‘Taner’ Small Bar Pendant— This was definitely love at first sight! I wanted a simple and elegant necklace that I can wear as a staple item. Plus, this would layer really well with just about anything else! I chose the rose gold color.

Kate Spade New York Glitter Studs— I will freely admit that I have a slight addiction to Kate Spade studs. I have three pairs and just purchased my fourth! I am so glad that the sale this year added these glitter ones. How fun! I got the pink multi glitter pair for myself and bought two more pairs to give as Christmas gifts for friends and family this year. #planningahead

Treasure & Bond Layered Shirttail Sweater— This was a great find for me and I hope it will be for you, as well! I have a thing for sweaters and plaid shirts. Uh, this item is the perfect combination of both! I also do not have to rack my brain to think about how to pair this shirt with anything; a pair of my favorite jeans and my new boots from earlier will all look fantastic together!

Lisa, Rolling in Dough:

Frye ‘Melissa Tab’ Knee High Boot— I am crushing on this pair mad hard! I have always wanted Frye boots since they are well-known for their impeccable style and quality. Unfortunately, 2015 was not the year. Nordstrom Anniversary Sale is offering them at a great price, though, so be sure to snatch this baby up if it is within your budget!

MARC BY MARC JACOBS ‘Take Your Marc’ Hobo Bag— I definitely have an embarrassing number of bags stored away in my apartment, so I really do not need to add another to the list. However, if I could, this would definitely be it! I absolutely love the simple design and how this can be worn in two different ways; on the shoulder or crossbody. I am also impressed by the quality of the Marc Jacobs bag that I currently own and would not hesitate to buy another when the time comes again!

Street Level Vegan Leather Pocket Tote— Again, going along with the theme of “Lisa, you have enough bags!” I cannot justify this purchase since I already own my beloved J.Crew Downing tote. However, I think you totally should purchase this item especially because it is currently on sale for $31.90! Guys, this is practically a steal! Do not hesitate; all of the other colors are sold out and only the black one is left!

No Longer Available 🙁 :

Treasure & Bond Twill Boyfriend Utility Jacket— I managed to snatch up one of these jackets before they were all gone from the early access selection and I am so glad that I did! From the initial reviews of other Nordstrom customers who got the same item, they were incredibly pleased with the material, quality, and color. I am so excited to wear this during the late fall/early winter months in NYC. Since I got this in a small, and I am normally a XS, I know I will have plenty of room to layer underneath!

Rebecca Minkoff ‘Chevron Quilted Love’ Crossbody Bag— Since I can think of a million other things I can spend my money on than a Chanel Boy Bag (which is incredibly similar to this bag in style), I am perfectly happy paying the equivalent of its sales tax on this beautiful item right here! I immediately bought the black one the day it went on sale with early access since I knew it would sell out quick. Unfortunately, the only color left is ash. While the color definitely makes the bag less practical, it is still beautiful and a great bargain!

*This is all for today, folks! Be sure to check back either tomorrow or the following day for the first part of the travel blog post on LISBON, PORTUGAL!
